PSY 6020 - Developmental Psychology The processes and significant transition points for child, adolescent, and adult development are considered in this class. Classic and contemporary theories of development through lifespan, including some modern western perspectives, are contrasted by examining their principal concepts and uncovering their assumptions about what motivates and influences development. Topics such as mother-infant attachment, sex-role socialization, cognitive and moral development, reciprocal effects in parent-child interaction, higher stages of adult development, and the revolutionary impact of feminist theory and research on classic models of development are emphasized. 3 credit(s)
