MBM 5671 - Advanced Nutritional Biochemistry
Nutritional biochemistry is the study of nutrition and metabolism on the cellular and molecular level. Clinicians involved in integrative and functional nutrition therapy must become well versed in nutritional biochemistry in order to understand the importance of nutrients in the functions of metabolic pathways and networks, as well as their role in clinical imbalances and the pathway to aging and pathology. This course introduces the concepts in the IFMNT radial to link cellular and molecular metabolism with the integrative and functional nutrition care process. This course prepares students for MBM 5678 that will incorporate nutrition and cellular metabolism with systems biology/physiology, genetics, and biochemical individuality.
