PSY 4000 - Comprehensive Exam Broadly, this exam affords the student the opportunity to demonstrate skills and knowledge related to clinical conceptualization, theory, research, and ethics, as well as competency in practice and cultural accountability. It also affords students self-assessment opportunities in reflecting upon their training and development as a clinical psychologist. The instructor serves as a coach during the semester, prompting activities for students to draw upon previous course learning experiences and clinical training in exam preparation. The exam is administered in the first half of the term and a double blind method is employed when the exams are reviewed by a panel of faculty, allowing the department to review the students’ progression as a clinical psychologist and inform program evaluation. Satisfaction of the Comprehensive Exam is required in order for the student to proceed with the advanced program requirements of the dissertation, internship, and other degree requirements. Pre-requisite: Satisfactory completion of all core degree requirements and courses.
