SCO 5078 - Couple and Family Therapy-Theory IIThe emphasis in this section is on models of therapy that expand the repertoire of therapeutic models from Theory I with a particular emphasis on the "self of the therapist." Given that the relationship system between therapist and client is the most critical "instrument of change," the therapist's mindfulness about the self, including family of origin history, countertransference, differentiation and attunement, etc. all constitute an effective and present "therapeutic self." The models reviewed in this course include Bowen Therapy, Jungian Therapy, Contextual Therapy, and Group Leadership Theory, and Strategic Therapy. The link between assessment and interventions is utilized in designing treatment strategies. 2 credit(s) |
