COUN 2050 - Psychopathology and DiagnosisThis course provides a critical overview of major schools of thought that have shaped modern thinking about various aspects of psychopathology (e.g. behavioral, biophysical, intrapsychic, phenomenological, and social) with attention to current diagnostic criteria of the DSM in relation to societal determinants of functional and dysfunctional behavior. Consideration is given to etiology, development, pathological patterns, psychotherapy, and critical evaluations of the field. Dysfunctional behavior is studied in the larger context of adaptation, self-actualization, and the development of human capacities. 3 credit(s) |
