APH 5571 - Heart Rate Variability BiofeedbackThis course meets the requirements for the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance "certificate of completion" in heart rate variability (HRV). The course emphasizes methods for evaluation and training of autonomic nervous system quieting through heart rate variability biofeedback training. HRV biofeedback has been demonstrated by extensive research to provide therapeutic benefits for a growing number of medical and mental health disorders. Topics covered in the course include: (1) Cardiac anatomy and physiology, (2) Respiratory anatomy and physiology, (3) Autonomic nervous system anatomy and physiology, (4) Heart rate variability psychophysiology, (5) biofeedback instrumentation, (6) measurement, (7) biofeedback training strategies, and (8) clinical applications. 3 credits.
