COUN 2050 - Psychopathology and DiagnosisThis course provides a critical overview of diagnosis and the DSM with attention to historical perspectives that shaped the current understanding of psychopathology. Topics in this course are approached through development, biological, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive lens. This course provides the necessary skills to understand and identify the etiology, symptoms, and DSM criteria necessary to make ethical and culturally responsive diagnosis. Diagnosis and treatment planning take into account working within continuums of care and interfacing with health systems.
