SW 1023 - Integrative Social Work and Addiction StudiesThis course is designed to introduce students to the principles of integrative social work and addiction studies in developing advanced administrative, direct practice, research and leadership skills in aspects of functioning as a professional in the assessment and treatment of addiction studies. Topics will include but are not limited to role, setting of addiction assessment and treatment; history, philosophy, and trends in addiction studies; professional standards for addiction counselors; effects of crises and trauma-causing events on persons with addictions; self?care; and ethical and culturally sensitive practice of addiction counseling. The integrative social work student will also explore competencies, credentialing, and other professional issues. 3 credit(s) |
