RES 2500 - Quantitative Data Collection and Statistics

Within the context of a survey of quantitative methods, students learn about different types of quantitative data, approaches to collecting quantitative data, and basic statistical analysis techniques, such as distinctions between descriptive and inferential statistics and associated statistical tests. Students examine the logical alignment of research paradigms and philosophical assumptions unique to quantitative approaches to research. Ethical considerations for quantitative research are considered. This course includes skill building exercises to prepare doctoral students for the design and implementation of research that includes quantitative data. Introductory statistical techniques, such as one and two sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA, bivariate correlation and regression analysis are introduced and practiced.
