MBM 5524 - Contemporary Neuroscience-Psychology and the BrainThis course explores brain and nervous system relationships with special emphasis on clinical examples and mind- body interactions. Beginning with the basic function of nerve cells (neurophysiology) we explore how cells communicate (the synapse and clinical neurochemistry) and the structure of the nervous system (neuroanatomy). Students learn about the most current neuro-imaging techniques. We explore neuroscience of the senses, emotion, arousal and stress. Neuroscience in Depression, Schizophrenia, Autism, and ADHD are investigated. The class concludes with a discussion of the biology of consciousness, meditation, and the brain-mind question.
